OBD2
(OBDII) Compatibility
Please refer
to the following to check whether your vehicle is OBD2
compatible or not:
Legislation
was passed in Europe and in the USA so that vehicles had to be
supplied conforming to the OBD2/EOBD standard. As
follows-
Petrol cars
in Europe made for sale on or after January 2001
Diesel Cars in Europe made for sale 2004 onwards
Petrol cars in the USA made for sale 1996 onwards
However, many
manufacturers implemented the OBD2/EOBD standard well before
the legislation applied. For instance,many Ford models from
1995 will also work.
Check your
documentation and the information plates under the bonnet for
anything pertaining to EOBD or OBD2. Also look for your 16 pin
diagnostic socket (note some vehicles used a 16 pin D socket
before OBD2 was implemented)
